Abstract: Common prosperity is an essential requirement of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a defining feature of Chinese-style modernization. Red tourism, as a national initiative that benefits the Party, the nation, and the people, plays a crucial role in carrying forward revolutionary traditions, strengthening cultural confidence, and promoting integrated socio-economic development. Examining the scientific connotations and practical logic of high-quality red tourism development from the perspective of advancing common prosperity therefore holds significant theoretical and practical implications. Grounded in the theoretical framework of the political economy of socialism with Chinese characteristics, this study analyzes the internal logic and practical pathways of high-quality development of red tourism under the vision of common prosperity. The results show that: (1) its internal logic can be understood across three key aspects: at the regional level, coordinated urban-rural planning helps promote balanced spatial and regional development; (2) achieving high-quality development in red tourism requires meeting several strategic requirements: upholding the Party's overall leadership is fundamental to ensuring the correct political orientation, keeping pace with the trends of the new era provides sustained momentum for innovation within the industry, aligning red tourism with major national strategies further enhances its strategic value; (3) the high-quality development of red tourism can be advanced through five major pathways: maintaining social harmony and stability as an overarching goal underscores the role of red tourism in strengthening national identity and ethnic unity, promoting healthy and sustainable economic development serves as the foundation for improving industrial efficiency, enhancing cultural confidence becomes a core responsibility, as the educational and cultural functions of red tourism are continuously deepened, emphasizing the broad sharing of development outcomes ensures that more people benefit from industrial advancement, building an ecologically livable environment demonstrates a commitment to harmonizing development with ecological protection. This study views red tourism through the lens of common prosperity which provides both theoretical support and practical guidance for its high-quality development.
