Abstract: With the increasing unpredictability and complexity of the social environment, activating individuals’ job crafting intention has become the key for organizations to achieve sustainable development. Previous studies on the influencing mechanism of job crafting intention were mostly limited to work-related factors, and paid little attention to the internal mechanism of how non-work factors influence individuals’ job crafting intention. The current research tries to organically connect the tourism field with the work field, and build a theoretical model based on Attention Restoration Theory, Self-Regulation Theory, Ego Depletion Theory, etc. In addition, 695 effective samples were used to empirically examine the promoting mechanism and boundary conditions of perceived restorative qualities in tourism context on individual mental restoration and job crafting intention. The results show that: (1) the perceived restorative qualities (compatibility, being away, extent and fascination) are important incentives to activate the individual’s job crafting intention; (2) psychological recovery is the mediating mechanism of the effect of perceived restorative qualities on the individual job crafting intention; (3) work-related electronic communication during travel negatively moderates the relationship between perceived restorative qualities and individual mental restoration. These results not only provide a new perspective and theoretical framework for the study of the relationship between tourism restorative environment and individual work attitude, but also provide useful guidance for the management practice of activating individual job crafting intention.

Key words: perceived restorative qualities, mental restoration, job crafting intention, work-related electronic communication
