Abstract: Tourism is an important way to improve people’s livelihood and well-being,and the improvement of people’s livelihood and well-being is also conducive to promoting the high-quality development of tourism.This paper measured the levels of the tourism development levels,and people’s livelihood and well-being of 31 provinces in China,and analyzed the interactive response relationship between them by using the PVAR model,and used the coupling coordination model and Markov chain to reveal the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of their coupling and coordinated development.The results show that：（1） there is a symmetrical interaction between tourism development and people’s livelihood,and the interaction lasts long and the structure is relatively stable.Both of them are mutually beneficial “win-win” effects,that means,tourism development is the driving force to improve people's livelihood and well-being,counteracted by people’s livelihood and well-being,while the former is weaker than the latter;（2） the overall coordination degree between tourism development and people’s livelihood and well-being level is low,and there is a big spatial difference,showing the trend of “East>Central>West”.During the research period,the number of provinces located in “barely coordinated” or above is increasing,while the number of provinces located in the maladjusted area is decreasing,and a pattern of “Guangdong-Shandong-Jiangsu” three-pole diffusion development is gradually formed;（3） the evolution of the coupling and coordination state between the two is a relatively continuous and slow progress process,which can be transferred across levels.
